Vietnam ‘Napalm Girl’ receives final skin treatment 50 years after war-defining photo | ITV News
Kim Phuc Phan Thi, the subject of the infamous Napalm Girl photograph from the Vietnam war, has finished one of her final major treatments for the burns she sustained as a result of the bombing.
Just nine-years-old when the image was taken, 50 years later Ms Phan Thi has received her final skin treatment after decades of pain from the intense scarring the Napalm caused.
The photograph, taken on June 8, 1972, won a Pulitzer Prize for Associated Press photographer Nick Ut and became a defining image of the war.

Vietnam War, 1970: CBS camera rolls as platoon comes under fire
In March of 1970, CBS News correspondent Richard Threlkeld was embedded with a platoon patrolling the jungles of Vietnam near Cambodia. The GI’s came under fire from North Vietnamese forces as Threlkeld’s crew documented the intense firefight. This original report aired on the “CBS Evening News” on March 27, 1970.

A 10-year-old Vietnamese boy who slipped into a narrow open shaft of a concrete pillar was confirmed dead on January 4, 2023. The New Year’s Eve accident happened in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Thap, where rescuers spent nearly 100 hours trying to save the boy.
